Unibrow to the Rescue!

Die Fledermaus.  It's happening.

aren't they gorgeous?

Unibrow also happening.

with one of my favorite dressers
servants stealing drinks. tsk tsk!

Prisoner costume is like 19th century slut-tastic and that is also happening.  I get some amount of pride back when the unibrow disappears, but the "off the shoulder" plus corset is a bit risque.  Still don't have a pick of that though...

We open on Thursday which is tomorrow. Which is nuts.  So much tired.

On an unrelated note, Pandora is playing all of my favorite songs.  Regina Spektor, Kate Nash, Sara Bareilles, Coldplay, Adele, Get Cape, Vampire Weekend, even Jeff Buckley!

Tonight I toast with chicken broth with fresh greens in my lovely Alice mug.  Cheers!

well, and the red queen.  also left over opera hair.
somehow i feel more attractive without that unibrow...

Long Live the Champagne Celebration

Happy "Day After Vanlentine's Day" Day!  Yeah. Feb 15th.  It's special too.

So.  Opera.  This picture captures the opera beautifully:

zis is ze opera owl
Lots and lots of singing.  Some yawning.  But mostly singing.  And that's fine because I don't have to do any of zat.  (My character is Russian.  Hence the Z's.)  The costumes are fabulous though!  Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of the gowns we've been working on for the past thousand years.  Soon though I hope to have some that I can steal and post.  This weekend is tech and first dress is on Sunday so soon means very soon!

On a somewhat unrelated note, I spoke to a future summer employer of mine and it turns out that soon I must sign my first contract to work this summer at Tommy O's Northern Stars Playhouse in my hometown.  I thought about how exciting it was going to be to go from opera to Midsummer to summer stock and even to do the research grant with dramaturgy.  Well, a few minutes after getting off the phone, I watched this video which a friend had posted on my facebook wall:

After watching it, I thought about how excited I was last night to think that the next morning I was going to get up and go to work to sew knife pleats and then I was going to directing class then to modern drama then I would go to dance and then I would work scenes with fellow directing students. And that's how my day went.  And it was fantastic.  Thinking about it, I know that this is what I want to do with my life.  I want to make theatre.  I want to have the vision.  I want to help someone carry out their vision.  I want to make the vision come to life.  I want to make the vision beautiful.  This is what I want to do.  I want to be a part of life. Theatre is life.  And I want to be there for it.  So cheers, to life.  Cheers to theatre!
